Tip of the Week: Craps Bets---Which Ones are Good versus Bad? In terms of rolling craps dice to influence a craps decision,
there's no such thing as a "skilled" craps player. There are only knowledgeable and ignorant craps players. Although no one can
influence a craps decision, the amount of knowledge a player has can be a big factor in whether he loses a lot quickly or loses a little
slowly, or maybe even occasionally win. Once and for all, get it through your head that the casino is in business to make a profit.
They are not in business to gamble. The casino has their built-in house advantage, so they know they'll get your money over time.
Playing with discipline and knowing the house advantage for each type of craps bet are the two things that do more for your bankroll
and playing enjoyment than anything. Whether a craps bet is considered good or bad is based entirely on the bet's house advantage.
The lower the house advantage, the better the bet. The higher the house advantage, the worse the bet gets.
The game of craps is a negative-expectation game because of the house advantage. "Negative expectation" means you will eventually
lose all your money if you play long enough. You may have short winning streaks, but over time, you'll definitely lose. It's a statistical
fact that you will, indeed, lose over time. To illustrate this fact, let's look at a coin flip as an example of how the house gets its
advantage.
For each coin flip, you have a 50/50 chance of heads showing and a 50/50 chance of tails showing. A 50/50 payoff means you expect
true odds of 1:1. The casino doesn't offer true odds on any craps bet except free Odds on the point. The casino has to have an edge
to make a profit and it gets its advantage by offering odds that are less than true. These type of odds are often called "casino odds."
Using the coin flip, for each $1 bet that you lose, you lose $1. But for each $1 bet that you win, the house doesn't pay you $1.
Instead of paying you its fair share, the casino screws you by paying a fraction of what it should. For example, the casino may pay
you only $0.97 instead of a full $1. Do you see how you're playing a negative-expectation game? If you play long enough, the casino
will eventually take all your money because they don't have to pay you the fair share when they lose.
My ebook explains in easy-to-understand terms how to calculate the house advantage for craps bets. It defines which craps bets are
good and bad because of their house advantages. Order the ebook. It's only $9.95, which is nothing compared to what you can lose if
you don't know what you're doing. Don't play craps like a sucker. Read the ebook and learn you play craps as a knowledgeable
player.
